I wish everyone would know the incredible effect of the 6 tastes! I have broken down the most important things for you here.
Ayurveda recommends to integrate all of the 6 tastes into your diet whenever possible.
The easiest way is to use different spices, because they cover several tastes. FOR EXAMPLE. Ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, liquorice root or turmeric are incredibly great helpers!
Let me introduce you the 6 tastes and their effect on the body here:
Sweet:
Slows down digestion, promotes longevity, improves strength, calms the nerves
Sour:
Stimulates appetite, promotes salivation, improves absorption, aids digestion
Salty:
Softens the tissue, stimulates digestion, balances electrolytes
Bitter:
Purifies blood, detoxifies, provides magnesium and calcium
Astringent:
Anti-inflammatory, absorbs water, dries fat, tightens tissue
Pungent:
Increases the appetite, simulates the circulation, cleans the sinuses, simulates the senses
